FROM THE GALLERY

With tears smart,
I watched from the gallery
as the straps grip
firmly held him in place.

Tears flowed from my eyes
just as they flowed
when dagger
to my fathers chest he drew.

My lover of me asks,
'how is it that your eyes tear?
when without thought,
he made you fatherless'

To sum it all, 1 + 1 =2,
what justice do I find in two deaths?

  1. A complicated yet very interesting piece. Who else dies besides the father?

    1. @ David: thanks for reading my blog. The poem focuses on Capital Punishment, the man who murdered her father is being executed, she watches from the gallery and wonders how his death will bring her justice.

  4. You write really well! It's ironic isn't it? How we are able to still have compassion to those who did not show us compassion! I guess it's the "human" in us beings... I forget who aptly wrote that "when the death bells toll for one, it tolls for all!"
